Spring Conference
Saturday, March 29th
Thr District’s Spring Conference was held on 29 March at the Jubilee Yacht Club, Beverly, MA. The morning’s program featured our guest speaker, Chris Thomas,, who spoke on the the new Paddle Safety Course. This was followed by a membership presentation by P/C Alexander Falk. At 11:15 Wes Dittes, former Commander of the Gloucester Coast Guard Station will discuss Marine Security Issues and his experiences with Homeland Security in our harbors.
After lunch heard a council meeting was held followed by the conference business meeting.
The Chief Commander, Creighton C. Maynard Jr., SN, conducted the annual Change of Watch.
District Bylaws
The change to the District Bylaws has been approved. The Budget year was changed to the twelve consecutive months from May 1 and ending on April 30th. Also, the way squadron assessments are charged was also changed to reflect the USPS National policy of a individual members and individual members with family. District Eighteen
District 18 is one of 33 districts of the
United States Power Squadrons®, the world's largest private, non-profit, boating organization. District 18 (D18) geographically is located in northeastern Massachusetts and consist of 5 different Squadrons with over 500 members who share boating knowledge and camaraderie. Experienced instructors teach courses on Seamanship, Piloting, Navigation, Weather and much more.
