Take a course, enhance your boating skills!

District Eighteen offers a wide range of Educational courses aimed at improving the boating skills and making our boating experiences safer and more enjoyable. Courses are offered to both members and non-members. These courses may be taken through one of the five squadrons in the District. Boating Course, Latest Schedule (click here)

Learn the fundamentals of safe boat handling and operation, and basic piloting in one comprehensive classroom course.  As an additional feature, this newly revised course includes a digital chart training CD and instructional material on modern navigation techniques as well. This course is available to the general public

Seminars, Latest Schedule (click here)

USPS has a series of short seminars covering specific topics of interest to boaters.  Some of the topics that are available now cover GPS, chart reading, VHF radio usage (including the Digital Selective Calling feature found on all new radios), and on-board weather forecasting.  These seminars are usually taught in a single two-hour class.   A student note book is included, along with a take-away guide or other items that are useful on your boat.
