Fall Conference

The District 18 Spring Conference was held at the Jubilee Yacht club located at 126 Water St in Beverly, MA from 0900 to 1600.
The USPS National Representative was V/C Robert J. Sweet, SN. Bob resides in Falouth, MA and is a member of the Buzzards Bay Sail & Power squadron. He is the National Educational Officer and presented the Chief Commanders Message and was available for Questions and comments
The morning Speaker, at 0930, was Harold Burnham, Harold is an Essex Boat Builder who has spoken to us before on the construction of several wooden boats he designed and built. He brought us up to date on his current designs and activities.
The remainder of the morning was dedicated to an Educational Seminar. Five break out meetings discussed the following: Boat Operator Certification; DB2000 Advanced features; How to get donated software from Tech Soup; A 45 minute video on cold water survival; and an update and description of the Instructor Development Course required to become certified to teach our Boating Course.
After lunch the conference received the various reports from the District including highlights of the USPS Governing Board Meeting, Q&A with Bob Sweet,, and presentation of awards.
