You are cordially invited to attend our District’s Spring Conference, Saturday, March 29th. at the Jubilee Yacht Club, Beverly, MA. Registration will begin at 0900 . Coffee and Pastry will be available
The morning’s program will feature our guest speaker, Chris Thomas, who will speak on the the new USPS Paddle Safety Course. Chris Thomas has been involved in several local paddle groups and has more than 20 years experience in canoeing and kayaking. His family owns a business in Rowley called New England Small Craft. He's been a guide, a teacher and a member of groups like Northeast Paddlers Network and the Appalachian Mountain Club and International Canoe Federation. Also, Chris will be assisted by Doug Schluter, who is an experienced white-water enthusiast, and has become an ocean kayaker since moving to New England five years ago. Together they have a wealth of knowledge that they are willing and able to share with D18.
A membership presentation by P/C Alexander Falk, Marblehead Squadron,will follow.
At 11:15 Wes Dittes, former Commander of the Gloucester Coast Guard Station will discuss Marine Security Issues and his experiences with Homeland Security in our harbors.
Lunch will be catered by Henry's of Beverly and will cost $15. Please let us know if you will attend so we have enough for all.
After lunch The Conference business portion will start with discussions of the new bylaw changes, department reports and the election of officers and Change of Watch.
We will hear the Chief Commander’s message and conclude with any additional District Conference business. The National representative will be C/C Creighton C. Maynard Jr., SN, photo above, along with his wife Glenda. Cdr Maynard is Chief Commander of the United States Power Squadron.
On Friday Evening, March 28th, 1830, Cdr Mason will host the C/C Maynard to dinner at the Casa Del Luca Restaurant located at 146 Rantoul St, Beverly. All members of D18 are invited to join Ron and socialize with Creighton and other USPS members. Please reserve a place so we can notify the restaurant of the chairs required. We will order off of the Italian style menu. We plan to meet at 1830.
On Saturday Evening, March 29th, 1830, the District Bridge will dine at the Danversport Yacht club located at 161 Bridge St, Beverly. All members of D18 are invited to this social extravaganza. Again please reserve a place so we can notify the restaurant. We will order off of a limited menu. We plan to meet at 1830.
